Raspberry Mania!

I had a great time last weekend shooting the 2012 Northwest Raspberry Festival for the Herald. One of the great things about working in a small community as a photojournalist has been the level of connectedness I feel toward the people who live here. Because Bellingham is, for the most part, a tight-nit group, I continually run into the same people who are actively involved in making their community, my community, a better place to live in. As a young chum who has spent the last five years going to school in a place he knew very little about, I have thoroughly enjoyed becoming, myself, a more active member in the Bellingham culture. Here are a few shots from the festival. Thanks for looking.

Cindy Honcoop and her son, Brandon Honcoop, prepare a batch of poffertjes, a traditional Dutch batter treat, during the 2012 Northwest Raspberry Festival on Saturday July 21, 2012 in downtown Lynden. The specialized grill used for cooking poffertjes had to be imported from Amsterdam, Brandon Honcoop said.
